Filmkontakt Nord (FkN) has just appointed Karin Johansson-Mex as its new director, in replacement of Karolina Lidin. Johansson-Mex will take on her new position on January 15, 2008.

The Copenhagen-based organisation responsible for the international promotion of Nordic short films and documentaries is supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond. Johansson-Mex is currently working as the Regional Coordinator of Film Production at the Department of Economic Development in Skåne, Sweden.

"I hope to further strengthen the organisation and the Nordic film environment in close cooperation with the Board, the film community and the national film institutions", said Johansson-Mex. "I hope to lead the organisation together with its skilled staff into a new era with specific focus upon the changing media landscape where new business s and means of production will lead our way into the future".

One of Filmkontakt Nord's main events, Nordisk Panorama just ended on Wednesday September 26th with the announcement of the winners of the competition programme.

The Nordic Documentary Award 2007 of ?6,500 sponsored by Finlands Svenska Television, was given to Line Halvorsen's documentary film USA vs. Al-Arian, produced by Dalchowsverden in Norway, with support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond. Two honorary mentions went to Oliwia Tonteri's Lilli (Finland) and Hanne Myren's Girls (Norway).

The newly installed New Nordic Voices Award of ?3,000 sponsored by Nordic Regional Film Funds went to The Walk by Csaba Bene Perlenberg, produced by Hepp Film in Sweden.
