Nearly 50 composers, sound designers, directors, producers, agents and publicists will gather at the Harpa Film Music Days to take part in seminars, lectures speed-dating sessions, and screening of five films nominated for the 9th Harpa Nordic Film Composers Award.

This year’s nominees for the Harpa Nordic Film Composers Award are:

Among the nominees Davíð Þór Jónsson will share his experience of working with Benedikt Erlingsson on his two feature films Of Horses and Men and Woman at War, while Jonas Struck will discuss his collaboration with sound designer Peter Albrechtsen on five films, including Man Divided.

Timo Hietala will join Swiss composer Christine Aufderhaar and Norwegian composer/performer Hanne Hukkelberg in the panel ‘Working and not getting stuck’.

Other panels will focus on the following topics:

  • ‘How big international productions work’ with Danish composer Frans Bak (The Killing, Doctor Foster) and his Swedish counterpart Patrik Andrén (The Bridge, Kon-Tiki, Serena, Battlefield-the video game) 
  • ‘Composers’ partners in business’ on the role of music agents, music supervisors and publicists with agent Annette Gentz, publicist Thomas Mikusz (White Bear), music supervisor Lena Obara and composer manager Ruby Wasmuth.
  • Renowned film music agent George Christopoulos (Oticons) representing more than 15 international film composers such as Shigeru Umebayashi (In the Mood for Love), will give a Masterclass on Monday 11.

The Nordic Film Music Days supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond will take place at Nordische Botschaften in Berlin between February 11-12, 2019.
