The Norwegian WW2 drama Betrayed just started filming for The Wave’s production company Fantefilm.

Betrayed (Den største forbrytelsen) will be the first Norwegian feature film tackling the persecution of Jews during WW2. Seasoned scriptwriters and in-house Fantefilm collaborators Harald Rosenløv Eeg (The King’s Choice) and Lars Gudmestad (Headhunters) have written the screen adaptation based on Marte Michelet’s book ‘The Ultimate Crime’. Eirik Svensson (Harajuku) takes over the helm from Marius Holst who was initially attached to the project.

On November 26, 1942, hundreds of Jews were picked up by the Norwegian police in the middle of the night and led aboard the German cargo ship “SS DONAU” en route to Auschwitz. In the midst of this chaos, we meet the Braude family, an ordinary Norwegian working class family who had lived in safety in Oslo until these fateful days.

Jakob Oftebro (Agent Hamilton) has the title role as Charles, one of the sons of the Braude family. His siblings are played by Silje Storstein (Young & Promising), Carl Martin Eggesbø (Skam) and Eilif Hartwig (Match), while Michalis Koutsogiannakis (The Bridge) is their father and Pia Halvorsen (Valkyrien) their mother. Nikolai Cleve Broch is a prison guard. The film is produced by Fantefilm’s Martin Sundland, Catrin Gundersen and Therese Bøhn, with support from the Norwegian Film Institute.

Nordisk Film will release the film in Norway in the fall 2020. TrustNordisk handles world sales.
