The new public funds will go towards the production of documentary films and TV series from the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Denmark.
Following an agreement between the Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, his counterparts from the Faroe Islands Aksel V. Johannesen and from Greenland Kim Kielsen, Norddok was set up to strengthen the mutual knowledge and understanding of the people from the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Denmark via documentary filmmaking.
The Fund will benefit in 2019 from DKK 8 million (€1.07m) from the Finance Act and an extra DKK 2 million (€268,000) in licence fee income.
"With the Norddok Fund, filmmakers from Greenland and the Faroe Islands in particular have a better chance to produce and create stories from angles other than those we’ve been used to so far. This will hopefully serve as a basis for even more stories from Greenland and the Faroe Islands, "said the Danish Film Institute CEO Claus Ladegaard.
Applicants can be TV companies and independent producers from the Faroe Islands, Greenland or Denmark. Danish producers will need a Greenlandic and/or Faroese co-producer to apply. The DFI will supervise Norddok and support the selection committee consisting of two members from Greenland, two from the Faroe Islands and one from Denmark.
Deadlines to apply are June 1st, 2019 for development support and November 1st, 2019 for production support.
