May El-Toukhy’s Sundance award-winning film continues to dominate the Danish charts four weeks after its premiere, outperforming Dumbo, Captain Marvel and Shazam!.

Nearly 230,000 Danes have watched the drama which is now the biggest Danish film released this year.

Carried by a strong word of mouth and rave reviews, the Nordisk Film production is expected to have long legs at the B.O. Frederik Honoré, director of Nordisk Film Distribution, said: “It is a great start for a contemporary Danish drama, and it is fantastic to note that both the reviewers and the audience enjoy the film. It is only May el-Toukhy's second feature film, but with this extraordinary reception she has already established herself as one of the country's top directors."

Queen of Hearts picked up the Audience Award earlier this year in Sundance and three top awards in Göteborg including the Dragon Award for Best Film and Best Acting award to Trine Dyrholm.

The film opens today Friday April 26 in Sweden and will then be shown in a dozen other foreign territories including the UK.

Last weekend, two other Danish films were in the Top 10: Sons of Denmark by Ulaa Salim was number 7 with cumulated admissions of nearly 25,000 after two weeks, and the youth film Hacker by Poul Berg, was number 9 with nearly 40,000 admissions after four weeks, according to FAFID.
