Last night NRK’s Countrymen was voted Best Comedy Series, non-English Language, and HBO Max’s first Danish Original show Kamikaze Best Drama Series, Non-English-Language.

The eight-part series Countrymen (Jordbrukerne) produced by Rubicon for NRK was among five international series vying for the Rockie Comedy Prize.

The award from one of the most important TV festivals in the world, comes on top of the double win for Best Ensemble Cast and High School Prize-Best Series earned at the last Canneseries.

The show co-written by director Izer Aliu and executive producer Anne Bjørnstad was nominated earlier this year for the Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize - Best Screenplay for a Nordic drama series.

Meanwhile HBO Max’s limited series Kamikaze produced by Denmark’s Profile Pictures, was running against five premium shows including SVT’s Thin Blue Line and Amazon Studios’ September Mornings. The series written by Johanne Algren and conceptualised by Annette K. Olesen, from Erlend Loe’s novel ‘Muleum’, scooped a Best Actress Award at Series Mania 2021 for the outstanding performance from Marie Reuther.
