Juho Kuosmanen’s Grand Jury Prize winner in Cannes is competing in 12 categories at the annual Finnish film awards, notably for Best Film, Director and Lead Actress.
The second most nominated feature with nine nods is Khadar Ayderus Ahmed’s Critics’ Week selected The Gravedigger’s Wife, followed by Hannaleena Hauru’s Fucking with Nobody, vying in 6 categories, Juha Wuolijoki’s family film Vinski and the Invisible Powder with six nominations, and Teemu Nikki’s Venice Orizzonti Extra audience award winner The Blind Man Who Did Not Want to See Titanic, with four nominations.
Documentaries are well represented across different categories, with Tuija Halttunen’s How to Kill a Cloud and Anna Antsalo’s Walk the Tideline both vying for Best Doc and Best Music, Rahul Jain’s Invisible Demons running for Best Doc and Best Sound Design, and Marko Röhr’s Tale of the Sleeping Giants for Best Cinematography.
The film industry organisation Filmiaura will announce the winners at the Jussi gala May 6, 2022.
