EXCLUSIVE: Esben Smed, Danica Ćurčić and Lars Ranthe have the title roles in Miso Film’s crime series to be pitched on Wednesday at Berlin’s CoPro Series. 

Smed is among this year’s ten Shooting Stars in Berlin. He had supporting roles in the TV drama Follow the Money, the film Summer of 92’ and his first feature as main actor - Amina’s Letters - premieres in March in Denmark.

Danica Ćurčić won a Robert award for Best Supporting Actress in Bille August’s Silent Heart and has appeared most recently in the hit Norwegian drama Nobel. She plays the title role of a ballerina in Zentropa’s upcoming drama Darling.

Lars Ranthe is one of Denmark’s most established actors. His credits include the films The Hunt, The Commune and TV series Dicte and Badehotellet. 

Created and directed by Christoffer Boe, the 6x48’ series Warriors is a thriller drama about community, loyalty and betrayal amongst war veterans, gang members and the police force, with a love story surrounding the war veteran CC (Smed) and the police office Louise (Ćurčić). Ranthe plays Tom, the unscrupulous boss of the gang. 

The series produced by Miso Film’s Jonas Allen and Peter Bose for TV2 Danmark was just granted support from the Danish Film Institute’s Public Service Fund. Bose told nordicfilmandtvnews: “Warrior is Christoffer Boe’s vision and his strong and cinematic take on the series have been supported by TV2 from the first day. With Warrior, we continue our effort and focus on producing high-end TV dramas, both budget-wise [the series has a budget of DKK 40/around €6.4M] and talent-wise.“

Miso Film is also in Berlin with Ole Borrnedal’s feature film Small Time Killers. The comedy drama has sold nearly 240,000 tickets in Denmark and is represented internationally by TrustNordisk.
