Marthin will join Nordisk Film on September 1st from the Swedish Film Institute where he is currently employed as Feature Film Commissioner.

The experienced producer and co-creator of The Bonus Family will steer Nordisk Film’s aggressive move into audience-driven Swedish film & TV drama.

The 47-year old executive has a multi-disciplinary experience in production, directing and screenwriting for film and television, as well as in book publishing. His TV drama credit includes The Bonus Family (Bonus familjen) and Walk the Talk (Våra vänners liv) that both won Swedish TV awards for Best Drama series. He also worked for SVT Drama as Head of Script Development.

Marthin’s task at Nordisk Film will be to turn the Swedish production arm of the Scandinavian major into a creative hub and ‘natural first choice’ for scriptwriters and directors. Henrik Zein, CEO of Nordisk Film Production said: "Nordisk Film wants to be a magnet for top creators. We will make films with ‘broad appeal & personal signature’ and make sure we continue to produce high-quality commercial films for the wider audience. I’m therefore very pleased that Calle Marthin has accepted to join us. With his long experience in Swedish film and television, and his catchy energy, he is the obvious choice to steer our drive in Sweden.”

Calle Marthin said his goal at Nordisk Film is to ‘make films for the wide audience with the best directors and sharpest scriptwriters, films that put the story at its core’.

Nordisk Film Production has 34 employees in Denmark, Norway and Sweden and produces around 15 films and TV dramas a year.

Upcoming Swedish films include the Berlinale Special Gala entry Becoming Astrid by Pernille Fischer Christensen, set to open domestically on September 14, 2018.
