Herngren will be responsible for developing formats and refining existing viewers’ favourites in both drama and comedy. She will work closely with Head of Drama Josefine Tengblad and executive producer Erik Leijonborg, the director of The Last Kingdom Season 3, Farang, Thicker than Water, who joined the Swedish media group in May.

Herngren said: “I am thrilled to be part of the drama team at TV4 -C More. I have worked in TV production most of my life, but now for the first time on the buyer's side. It will be a new perspective, but of course with the same goal in mind – making the best possible TV.”

A trained therapist, Herngren dipped into her own experience for the FLX hit show The Bonus Family, co-created with her husband Felix Herngren, Moa Herngren (her sister in law) and Calle Marthin. “I find relationships and how people interact incredibly exciting. It is a great source of inspiration for basically everything I do, and I look forward to translating my past experiences into creative products in the projects ahead of me”, she said.

Tengblad said: “Bringing Clara onto our team feels great and creatively exciting – it is simply another dream recruitment for me! I am convinced that she will make a sizeable impact on our future productions and we look forward to being challenged by Clara's skills and wise eye.”

C More/TV4 has been aggressively beefing up its drama unit over the past year, in its commitment to provide top quality films and shows to their online and linear viewers, in a highly competitive marketplace. Local content in particular has been a priority for parent group Bonnier Broadcasting and should remain on top of the agenda of the future owners, Swedish telco group Telia, once their acquisition of the Bonnier Broadcasting group from the Bonnier family is cleared by the Swedish competitive authorities the second half of 2019.

Last month, when the Telia take-over was announced, the group stressed its clear intention to bring world class television and added value to their 1.8 million household clientele and to maintain the commitment of the Bonnier TV brands (C More, TV4 as well as MTV in Finland) to local content: “Local content is something that our customers like and want to see more of. Together we will create even better opportunities for Swedish and Nordic drama, entertainment and editorial journalism. We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to see the films, series and TV channels that they want", said Telia in a statement.
