TrustNordisk is attached both to Olesen’s competition entry A Matter of Trust and to Gislason’s Midnight entry Attachment.

Denmark has a strong presence at this year’s top US Tribeca Film Festival, with Olesen’s A Matter of Trust, world premiering next to nine titles screening at the International Narrative Competition section, and Gabriel Bier Gislason’s debut feature Attachment, to be showcased at the Midnight section for horror and genre discoveries.

With A Matter of Trust (Ingen Kender Dagen), seasoned writer/director Olesen reunites with Trine Dyrholm, who played in her award-winning films Little Soldier and In Your Hands.

The film is based on five short stories by Carsten Jensen, Martin Kongstad, Caroline Albertine Minor, Niels Henning Krag Jensby and Kamilla Hega Holst, adapted for the screen by Maren Louise Käehne (Queen of Hearts, Shelley).

On a perfectly ordinary late summer's day, five unrelated people are having their lives turned upside down. A husband, a doctor, a wife, a student and a seven-year-old daughter are unsuspectingly put on a collision course with each their fateful crossroads. In the search of love, identity and moral gauge, they all risk the most vulnerable aspect of life: Trust.

“Annette K. Olesen’s spellbinding romantic drama manages to keep audiences on the edge of their seats without any thrills or chills,” said Tribeca’s artistic director Frédéric Boyer. “By splicing her stories in between one another, she seamlessly connects the thematic undercurrents of each self-contained story, while teasing the deeper truths hidden behind smiles and small gestures. Trust is at the heart of this short story collection, but whether each of Olesen’s characters earn or deserve that is a question she encourages you to ruminate on long after the film’s credits roll.”

The film produced by Nimbus Film’s Jonas Frederiksen with support from the Danish Film Institute, is due to open in Denmark September 29 via Scandinavian Film Distribution.

Attachment (Natten har øje) by Susanne Bier’s son Gabriel Bier Gislason, is a horror romance between two young women: Maja, a has-been Danish actress, and Leah, a young Jewish academic from the UK.

Their new relationship is interrupted when mysterious things start happening in their London flat. Could it be Leah’s disapproving mother Chana, using Jewish folklore to come between them?

In the starring roles are Josefine Park (Shorta, The Rain), Ellie Kendrick (Game of Thrones, An Education), Sofie Gråbøl (The Killing) and David Dencik (The Chestnut Man, No Time to Die).

The film was produced by Thomas Heinesen for Nordisk Film Production, with co-financing from YouSee, DR, support from the Danish Film Institute’s New Danish Screen.

TrustNordisk has already pre-sold the film to AMC Networks’ genre label Shudder for North America, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

Nordisk Film will handle the Danish release, set for June 30, 2022.
