Season one of the thriller drama The Lawyer was the most popular series last year on NENT Group’s streaming service Viaplay.
The eight-part Swedish series The Lawyer (Advokaten) is based on an idea by authors Jens Lapidus, Hans Rosenfeldt, and Michael Hjorth.
Co-writers Charlotte Lesche and Karin Gidfors were nominated for the Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize 2018 for the screenplay of the original series.
Season 2 picks up where season 1 ended. Top Stockholm lawyer Frank Nordling (Alexander Karim) faces charges for a murder he didn’t commit, while plagued with guilt about his deepening involvement in a criminal network that has already cost too many innocent lives.
Other actors reprising their roles include Malin Buska, Thomas Bo Larsen, and Nicolaj Kopernikus.
SF Studios’s Nicklas Wikström Nicastro is producing for NENT Group. Season 2, which is currently filming, will premiere in the Nordics exclusively on Viaplay in 2020. Studiocanal handles world distribution.
