Immortal is the latest mega-project from producer Petri Jokiranta and writer/director/producer Jalmari Helander for their joint outfit Subzero, after Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale and Big Game.

Shot mostly in English language, the action film centres on ex-soldier Aatami Korpi, who finally finds gold in the wilds of Lapland, after years of searching in vain. To get his loot home, he must travel through wilderness occupied and destroyed by German troops.

Headlining the international cast as Aatami is Jorma Tommila (Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale), joined by Norwegian star Aksel Hennie (The Martian, White Wall, Nobel), UK actor Jack Doolan (Marcella, The Hatton Garden Job) and Onni Tommila (Big Game).

Top behind the camera crew include cinematographer Kjell Lagerroos (Jordskott, The Hunters), production designer Otso Linnalaakso (Jussi winner for Armi Alive!),costume designer Anna Vilppunen (Omerta 6/12, Peacemaker) and editor Juho Virolainen (Wingman).

Speaking about Immortal, Helander said: “I have long cherished the idea of a bang ‘em up action movie set in the last days of World War II in Finland, and we have assembled a dream team of crew and cast to bring it to life. It’s great for me to be working with my long-time acting collaborators Jorma Tommila and Onni Tommila, but also exciting to have new players Aksel Hennie and Jack Doolan join us."

The film is produced with London-based Good Chaos, run by former Protagonist Pictures CEO Mike Goodridge, who serves as executive producer, together with Gregory Ouanhon and Antonio Salas. Financial partners include the Finnish Film Foundation, Business Finland’s Audiovisual Production Incentive and MTV/C More.

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions’ US label Stage 6 Films has acquired rights outside the Nordics, handled by Nordisk Film.
