The Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund welcomes representatives for the nominated films on stage tonight.

The nominees for the Nordic Council Film Prize are announced in connection with the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund.

The nominees for the 2024 Film Prize are:

  • The Son and the Moon (Min arv bor i dig), DK Directed by Roja Pakari and Emilie Adelina Monies, written by Roja Pakari and Denniz Göl Bertelsen, produced by Sara Stockmann for Sonntag Picture
  • Fallen Leaves (Kuolleet lehdet), FI Directed and written by Aki Kaurismäki, produced by Aki Kaurismäki, Misha Jaari and Mark Lwoff
  • Twice Colonized, GL Directed by Lin Alluna, written by Aaju Peter and Lin Alluna, produced by Emile Hertling Péronard
  • Touch (Snerting), IS Directed by Baltasar Kormákur, written by Ólafur Jóhann Ólafsson and Baltasar Kormákur, produced by Agnes Johansen and Baltasar Kormákur
  • Sex, NO Directed and written by Dag Johan Haugerud, produced by Yngve Sæther and Hege Hauff Hvattum
  • Crossing (Passage), SE – Directed and written by Levan Akin and produced by Mathilde Dedye

The six films will be presented tonight on stage at the opening of New Nordic Films in Haugesund, as a special tribute to Nordic films.

The prize, which consists of 300,000 DKK, is awarded to a Nordic feature film or documentary with theatrical distribution. The prize is divided equally between the film's director(s), writer(s) and producer(s).

The winner of the prize will be unveiled on October 22nd via RÚV. The announcement will coincide with the presentation of other Nordic Council Prizes in Literature, Children and Young people’s Literature, Music, and Sustainability.

The nominated films will be screened in Haugesund and at Oslo Pix, the Helsinki International Film Festival and other official NCFP-events in Copenhagen, Reykjavík and Stockholm.
