Danish writer/director Mads Matthiesen has teamed up again with Martin Zandvliet co-writer of his acclaimed debut feature Teddy Bear, for his second feature The Model produced by Zentropa.
Successful writer Anders August (The Legacy, A Funny Man) has joined Matthiesen and Zandvliet to tells the story of emerging fashion model Emma who struggles to enter the Parisian fashion scene and develops a deadly obsession for male fashion photographer Shane White. Following long casting sessions among Danish top modelling milieu, 20 year-old newcomer Maria Palm – under contract with Elite Model Management Copenhagen - has been cast for the title role. Next to her is UK actor Ed Skrein (Games of Thrones, UK/French TV series The Tunnel) who plays Shane, as well as Polish model Charlotte Tomaszewska.
The Model has just started shooting and will continue for seven weeks on location in Paris, Warsaw and Copenhagen. The film is produced by Jonas Bagger for Zentropa Entertainments10 ApS with executive producers Marie Gade and Louise Vesth, in co-production with Zentropa International Poland, Sputnik Film, Zentropa International Sweden, Film i Väst with support from the Danish Film Institute, TV2 Denmark, the Polish Film Institute.
