The Danish Film Critics Association has put Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac and Thomas Vinterberg’s The Hunt ex aequo in the running for their annual Bodil film awards, with six chances each to win on February 1st, 2014, including in the Best Film category. The three other Danish films vying for Best Film, Nils Malmros’ Sorrow & Joy, Michael Noer’s Northwest and Mikkel Nørgaard’s The Keeper of Lost Causes received three nominations each.

Nymphomaniac has five acting nods, with Charlotte Gainsbourg and Stacy Martin running for Best Actress, Uma Thurman for Best Supporting Actress, Stellan Skarsgård for Best Actor and Jamie Bell for Best Supporting Actor. The strong cast of The Hunt is also well represented with Mads Mikkelsen vying for Best Actor, Lars Ranthe and Thomas Bo Larsen for Best Supporting Actors, Anne-Louise Hassing and Susse Wold for Best Supporting Actresses.

Sex Drugs and Taxation (Spies & Glistrup), the fifth biggest Danish film of 2013 collected only one nomination for Best Actor (Nicolas Bro) while Kristin Scott Thomas’s performance in Only God Forgives puts her in the race for Best Supporting Actress. In the Best Danish Documentary category are Blood Ties, Sepideh and Ai Weiwei: The Fake Case.
