Six Icelandic works in Progress, including a new film by Baldvin Z (pictured) are being pitched this week at Reykjavik’s Stockfish European Film Festival (February 18-28).
Life in a Fishbowl director Baldvin Z is preparing for Sagafilm the coming of age filmVíti í Vestmannayjum (working title The Great Football Adventure), about a 10-year old boy who takes part in a football tournament. Also under Sagafilm’s aegis is the crime series Stella Blomkvist following the investigations of the hard nosed lawyer of the same name.
Other works in progress include Óskar Thor Axelsson’s chiller I Remember You produced by ZikZak Filmworks, the animated feature Ploey-You Never Fly Alone directed by Árni Ólafur Ásgeirsson (Brim) and Gunnar Karlsson for GunHil, as well as the documentaries Dive: Rituals in water by Elín Hansdóttir and Joe in the Tunnel by Hallur Örn Árnason.
Other highlights at the second Stockfish Festival held at Reykjavik’s Bío Paradís include a focus on Polish and Estonian cinema and a script development workshop held in conjunction with MIDPOINT Central European Script Centre.
