Cannes: Paris-based Danish producer Marianne Slot, (pictured) long time co-producer of Lars von Trier’s films in France, has just boarded the Icelandic film A Woman at War by Benedikt Erlingsson (Of Horses and Men). The director says the contemporary action film will focus on a ‘middle aged woman who wants to save the world and finds the way to do it’. Erlingsson’s debut feature Of Horses and Men nabbed several major international awards including the 2014 Nordic Council Film Prize.

Slot’s recent co-productions with Scandinavia include Bent Hamer’s 1001 Grams, Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac, and Susanne Bier’s Love is All You Need.

The established producer received in Cannes on Saturday from the hands of French Culture Minister Fleur Pellerin the prestigious Order of Arts and Letters. For the last two years she was head of the World Cinema Support body administered by France’s national film body CNC on behalf of the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
