After his ‘liberation trilogy Mouth to Mouth, Daybreak and Happy End that dealt with people trying to liberate themselves from destructivity, the Swedish director Björn Runge is going to focus on the war in Afghanistan in Mission 1325 and how life and death in war zones affects people. The drama produced by Madeleine Ekman for Zentropa International Sweden AB deals with the Swedish military experience in Afghanistan. The film follows the main character, Lt. Paula Ahlin before, during and after she served in Afghanistan for the UN Mission 1325 which involves women's participation in peace process. "I am interested in the idea that our protagonist goes out into the world to make a difference, but it is her life that is changed the most," says the director. The Scandinavian cast includes Josephine Bornebusch (Solsidan), David Dencik, Ann Petrén, Johan Widerberg, Lisette Pagler and Laura Birn. Shooting starts this autumn and will continue in the spring 2013. The film is co-produced by Zentropa in Sweden, Denmark, Spain, with the company's Finnish affiliate Edith Film, in co-production with Film i Väst and support from the Swedish Film Institute and Finnish Film Foundation.
