The Nordic noir The Paradise is produced by the Finnish pubcaster together with Spain’s Mediapro. YLE’s Head of Drama Jarmo Lampela and Bordertown writer Matti Laine are developing the original TV drama with Mediapro’s Ran Tellem and David Troncoso. The project marks the first time ever that a Spanish production company collaborates side by side with a Finnish channel.

The Paradise is a thriller set among the Finnish community living in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol, the largest group of Scandinavians outside Scandinavia. Their peaceful existence is interrupted by a series of crimes that can only be resolved thanks to a joint collaboration between the Finnish and Spanish police forces. YLE’s major international crime series Bordertown co-produced by France’s Federation Entertainment was a hit on YLE1, with a record 1.1m viewers for its premiere. A second season is in development.

Spanish group Mediapro co-produced with Sky, HBO and Canal+ the premium drama The Young Pope starring Jude Law.
