The TV drama Bordertown won three top awards including Outstanding TV Drama of the year at the annual Finnish Golden Venla TV awards.
Other major awards picked up by the crime show include Best Actor (Ville Virtanen) and Best Actress (Anu Sinisalo).
Bordertown (Sorjonen) created by Miikko Oikkonen had more than 1.3 million consolidated viewers for its opening episode on YLE and attracted a lot of international attention in 2016 following its presentation at Series Mania and MIPTV Drama Screenings.
Producer Matti Halonen of Fisher King Production said season 2 is in development and should start filming mid-August, with a tentative delivery set for May 2018. Federation Entertainment is handling world sales.
The Finnish Television Academy also handed out a Venla statuette for Best Script to Tiina Lymi for her work on the black comedy Kohtuuttomuuksia produced by Solar Films for YLE.
The hit hospital series Nurses (Syke) produced by Yellow Film & TV won the Audience award for Best TV Programme.
The Golden Venla ceremony was held at Helsinki’s National Opera last Friday.
