Inspector Kari Sorjonen (Ville Virtanen) will try to resolve five new cases in the returning season of the Finnish crime show Bordertown (Sorjonen).
Filming of season 2 starts August 8 until November 7 and will be split between Lappeenranta, Helsinki and Estonia.
The story created by Miiko Oikkonen focuses again on Kari Sorjonen who investigates new crime cases on the Finnish/Russian border and deals at the same time with family issues. Producer Matti Halonen said the stakes will be bigger in season 2 compared to season 1.
Besides Virtanen, other actors reprising their roles include Anu Sinisalo, Matleena Kuusniemi, Olivia Ainali, Lenita Susi and Laura Malmivaara.
The 10-part series created by Miiko Oikkonen is produced by Fisher King Ltd for YLE. Paris-based Federation Entertainment is involved again as co-producer and world distributor. Airing on YLE is scheduled for the fall 2018.
Season 1 was a major hit for YLE with more than 1.3m consolidated viewers for its opening episode. Internationally, the show was picked up by Sky Deutschland for Germany, Canalplay for France, VRT for Belgium. It is available for streaming on Netflix since March 31st in the US, Canada, the UK, Republic of Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Eastern Europe, Russia and the Netherlands.
Bordertown won three Golden Venlas (local Emmys) earlier this year for Best Drama series, Best Actor (Virtanen) and Best Actress (Anu Sinisalo).
