Sweden’s top actress/director has started filming Vilken Jävla Cirkus for Sweetwater Productions and SF Studios.
In the title roles are Molly Nutley (Missing), Johan Widerberg (A Man Called Ove), Gustav Lindh (Spring Tide), Evin Ahmad (Blue Eyes), Aliette Opheim (Thicker than Water) and Tomas von Brömsen (Shed no Tears, My Life as a Dog).
Based on Bergström’s original script, it’s a comedy drama in which everyday life is turned upside down and the characters are forced to step out of their comfort zones.
Hugo (Gustav Lindh) has had no taste for life since he lost the love of his life Agnes (Evin Ahmad). Following a bicycle accident, he loses consciousness and wakes up in the most unusual place-a circus wagon! A new world opens up to him with colourful characters such as a chef (Vanna Rosenberg) who cannot cook, a cranky clown (Johan Widerberg) and the mysterious Anna (Molly Nutley) who is hiding a secret.
"With Vilken jävla circus (lit. What a Fuckin' Circus), I want to offer a breath-taking love story that touches, engages and entertains audiences. The film will show the contrasts between an austere, structured life and a world of small havoc but plenty of friendship and love," said Bergström.
The film will be released in the fall 2017 by SF Studios.
Together with her husband and producer Colin Nutley of Sweetwater Production, the star actress turned director has created some of Sweden biggest hits of the last two decades, from Nutley’s Oscar-nominated Under the Sun, the House of Angels trilogy to Bergström’s Holy Mess, Sweden’s 2015 top selling local film. The couple’s last hit was C More’s original mini-series Missing, watched last January by half of the streaming service’s clients.
