After Quicksand, Sweden’s leading production company FLX is teaming up again with Netflix on Lisa Langseth’s romantic dramedy series Love & Anarchy.
Langseth who will direct her first long-form format, is sharing the writing credit with Alex Haridi (Quicksand, Blue Eyes, Real Humans).
The eight-part series Love & Anarchy (Kärlek & anarki) follows Sofie, a career driven consultant and married mother of two. When Sofie gets an assignment to modernise an old publishing house she meets young IT tech Max, and an unexpected flirting game begins. Sofie and Max secretly challenge each other to do things that question modern day life. It starts innocently enough, but as the game gets more and more daring the consequences grow beyond proportions.
Langseth whose directing credits include Alicia Wikander’s vehicles Pure and Euphoria said Love & Anarchy has been her “dream project for a long time”. “After working with this story alone in my basement I am so immensely glad to see it present itself together with a fantastic team. I have the best job in the world,” she claimed.
Tesha Crawford, Netflix Northern Europe’s Director of International Originals commented: ”We instantly fell in love with this female led project. Not only does the story follow a strong female character, we are also happy to team up with the talented Lisa Langseth and continue the great collaboration with FLX. We are looking forward to bringing this show to life with this amazing team.”
The series is produced by FLX’s Fatima Varhos, Frida Asp, and executive produced by Martina Håkansson and FLX co-owner Pontus Edgren. All held the same roles in Netflix’s first original Swedish series Quicksand (Störst of allt) which premiered on the US streaming giant in April.
The youth thriller is nominated at Sweden’s Kristallen TV awards for best TV drama, best actress (Hanna Ardéhn) and best actor (Felix Sandman).
