Season 3 of the Finnish crime show Bordertown (Sorjonen) created by Miikko Oikkonen for Fisher King has started filming this week.
Oikkonen told yle.fi that “the winter landscape and atmosphere of season 3 will bring the crimes and family drama to a new epic dimension.” Juuso Syrjä is concept director and the new episodic directors are Marko Mäkilaakso and Jussi Hiltunen.
Ville Virtanen reprises his role as inspector Kari Sorjonen, alongside Olivia Ainali as his on-screen daughter Janina Sorjonen, Matleena Kuusniemi as his wife Pauliina and Anu Sinisalo as Detective Lena Jaakkola.
The series is produced in collaboration with Paris-based Federation Entertainment, co-producer and world distributor, IPR.VC, and Business Finland. The premiere on Yle is set for October 2019.
Season 2 started airing on the Finnish pubcaster October 7 and posted strong ratings. The pilot episode had a share of 32% for 783,000 consolidated viewers, and the full series averaged 707,000 total viewers. Season 1 and 2 were sold to Netflix.
