Dag Johan Haugerud, Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson among latest Fund recipients

In its May round of support, Nordisk Film & TV Fond has backed two features produced by Motlys in Norway, the Icelandic series Balls and Danish pre-school series Tiny Toot.

Feature Films

  • LISTEN UP! (Hør her’a!)
    Grant: NOK 1 300 000
    Recipient: Motlys, Norway
    Producers: Ingvil Berger, Yngve Sæther

    Writers: Erlend Loe, Nora Landsrød, based on a novel by Gulraiz Sharif
    Logline: It's the summer holidays in Oslo and Mahmoud (15) pictures long days on the bench outside his block of flats. But his little brother has a secret to share, and Mahmoud will be put to the test – both as a brother and son of his Pakistani family.

    Norwegian/Iranian filmmaker Tehrani who graduated from the Norwegian Film School in Lillehammer has won numerous awards with his short films (Victor, The Manchador). His directorial debut Listen Up! is based on Gulraiz Sharif’s novel sold to several territories including Germany, Italy, Denmark and the Netherlands. Erlend Loe (Kamikaze, North) is writing with new writing talent Nora Elisabeth Landsød. Details on the production will soon be announced.
  • Sex, Dream & Something Stupid Called Love (Sex, drømmer & noes om minner om kjærlighet)

    Distribution: theatrical followed by VOD launch on Viaplay.
    Logline: A film trilogy that consists of three loosely connected stories that in different ways speak about the way we behave to achieve our inner longings. Moral fables and existential comedies about sexuality and queer sensibility set in Oslo today.

    The Multi-awarded Dag Johan Haugerud (Beware of Children, I Belong) is due to start filming the first film late August, the second film in the fall 2022 and third part of the trilogy in May/June 2023.

    Logline: Years after burning out and falling from grace, a middle aged, 90s handball legend seeks to redeem himself by returning to his childhood club to coach the women’s team where he clashes with a new generation of women in a post #MeToo society.

    The series has received co-financing from RÚV, DR, NRK, SVT and YLE as part of the Nordic 12 alliance, support from the Icelandic Film Centre and Creative MEDIA. Filming is due to start this fall, with a premiere on RÚV set for 2023.

    Logline: Tiny Toot is just about 3 years old. She lives with her family, her cat Gato and then there’s Pixie, a little elf who can do magic! Every day Pixie invites Tiny Toot and Gato on a new adventure to explore life’s mysteries.

    The animated pre-school series is meant to awaken the curiosity of 2-5 years-old about the world that surrounds us. “We want to give all the pre- schooler’s an experience with fun facts about nature and the world,” said seasoned producer Kaufmann (Shorta, Daniel, The Hunt) and animator Mac Dalland. The project is co-produced by Ja Film, Denmark, with financing from the Danish Film Institute, DR, the West Danish Film Fund, NRK, RÚV, and Yle.

  • NOK 150,000 to the Reykjavik International Film Festival for its Industry Days
  • NOK 110,000 to the Helsinki International Film Festival-Love & Anarchy for Nordic Flair
  • NOK 80,000 to Mikrofilm for Nordic Animation Annecy.
